Legends of the Sea

We have talked about ancient mariners and the legacy that the ocean holds for sailors like us. Sailing for pleasure or sailing for a purpose, it is all the same. The boats are as different as snowflakes and the sailors as diverse as those on the subways in New York City. The thing that is undeniable is the love that each one of us feels for the ocean. The simple makeup of saltwater, and the fact that it is almost a perfect match for human blood. The ocean is inside of us all and, some believe that she is the mother of humanity.

The Legend

Legends of the ocean abound. The bible relies heavily on maritime references like Jonah and the whale; the disciples of Jesus being fishermen and the parting of the Red Sea. Text, like the Odyssey, are ancient examples of life on the sea. The ocean provides for us, it takes care of us, it even creates the weather for us.
