The Legacy of a Sailor

Where did sailing originate? Well, I am going to take a stab in the dark. I think that some caveman that lived in a beautiful limestone cavern by the sea decided to go catch some fish. Now, he wasn’t necessarily going after different kinds of fish, but bigger ones. It is the nature of man to want more, to go bigger, and to go faster. It is highly likely that someone added a sail to that caveman’s boat. Now, it was only a matter of time before the age of exploration kicked off properly. There has been a lot of debate as to who was the first to significantly explore through the oceans. It is said that a Viking ship that pre-dates Columbus was found in Minnesota; yep, Minnesota.
