“Very occasionally something comes along in sailing that does exactly what it says it's going to do and here at Rule69blog I'm sent all manner of things to review that largely don't cut the mustard. So it was with some suspicion that I started using OceanRacing's laptop rucksack and holdall. Opening the box I immediately liked the waterproof and extremely sturdy feel and, normally always the dead give away, the zips were as strong as an ox. I've been using both the rucksack and the holdall and I would happily endorse them as brilliant products. They are miles ahead of the usual rubbish fashion bags and have been designed with the racer in mind by people who clearly understand that sailing is a wet sport. I guarantee you'll be absolutely blown away by the quality and the bags will be with you for life! They are also the only bags on the market that come in a decent colour..” Magnus Wheatley
The Offshore Backpack™ is specifically designed to suit the needs of offshore sailors, power boaters and business travelers. The product evolved as a result of feedback from racing sailors that wanted a backpack with enough internal volume to accommodate foul weather gear and boots, plus the ability to protect a laptop when required to do so.
Features that make this backpack truely waterproof include:
• Polyurethane-impregnated nylon fabric which is color-fast and UV-resistant
• Radio frequency welded panels with stitched and taped seams
• Water-proof zippers to prevent salt water incursion (unlike cheap roll top bags)
• Padded neoprene computer sleeve that fits into an internal compartment to cushion and protect laptops with screen sizes up to 15.4"
• Large main compartment to accommodate foul weather gear and boots
• Padded shoulder straps and back that comfortably distributes weight
• Internal organizer pocket & external water-resistant pocket
• Mesh pockets for wet sailing gloves, sun block, water bottles & accessories
• Large carrying handle
• Measures 19” x 14” x 12”
Tastefully crafted in navy and black, the Offshore Backpack™ provides a professional appearance, fitting into the business dress codes of today’s workforce. It’s backed by a one year warranty to the original purchaser against defects in materials and workmanship.
For extended races or trips, a matching waterproof Offshore Duffel™ is also available. Made with the same high quality, waterproof materials and construction as the backpack.

I have been looking for a waterproof racing back pack for a long time. All others i have bought have fallen apart within a year. This looks very sturdy and definitely waterproof and it is just the right size. not too big. I am a whaleboat rower and out in the rain and waves splash in the boat.

Perfect for sailing !!!!

A friend of mine showed up with this backpack while on a sailing trip six years ago. I remember that I really liked the look and feel of this heavily used pack at the time. The owner of the boat that we were on also liked the luggage as well. So, four years ago I purchased one of the backpacks for the owner of the boat as a Christmas present. To date he uses it almost every day. It's his 'go to' waterproof gear. Well, now it's my turn... I purchased the same backpack for myself this past Christmas and have already used it and put it to the test in a recent trip that we have taken. This backpack is 'well' worth the money and will hold up for years.

Bought this for my husband to carry his foul weather gear, etc. It is well made, sturdy and even best the zippers are treated to prevent corrosion - a must since he sails on the SF Bay (salt water!). The pockets and compartments are well planned for most things a sailor needs.

We used this backpack on a trip to Elbow Cay in the Bahamas. We rented a 20 foot whaler that we took out daily. It was perfect. Easy to pack, easy to stow, easy to carry. Held plenty. I will be giving my son one for Christmas.

I got this backpack after the boat I raced sank on the delivery home in 2007.
It has been every where with me, from Cabo to Transpac to Key West and Chicago and every weekday and weekend race on the west coast till 2013.
The zippers finely gave out after 70 or so days a year and I can't complain so I just bought another one!
