Classic. Retro. Updated with polarized polycarbonate lenses at a price that won’t bust your budget!

Aviator sunglasses have been made for the Armed Forces since 1937 by companies like Randolph Engineering, American Optical, and of course Ray Ban. After World War II they became popular fashion items and remain so to this day. In 1999 Italian eyewear conglomerate Luxottica acquired the Ray Ban brand. Polarized Ray Ban aviators are constructed of heavy glass lenses which are prone to shattering. Ocean Racing has updated this classic design with lightweight, polarized polycarbonate lenses with hydrophobic coatings while maintaining the classic look.

Polarization is like noise-canceling headphones for your eyes, eliminating reflected light or glare off the water. Hydrophobic coatings keep dirt, sunblock, and salt water from building up on the lenses. Our lightweight, hi-tech lenses are highly shatter resistant and a natural UV filter. All the style of traditional aviators with better performance, safety, and less wearer fatigue.

The classic gold metal frames come with your choice of the popular crystal blue mirror or classic G15 green lenses made to the original mil-Spec. Lenses meet ANSI Z80.3 standards for non-prescription sunglass and fashion eyewear requirements and meets European Community (CE) Class 1 optical standards. A case & cleaning cloth are included with each pair.

Our Aviators are the classic shape and available in two lens sizes; 55mm for a medium to large fit and 58mm for a large to XL fit. Generally we find that most men will prefer the 58mm size lens while the best fit for female faces will be the be 55mm. Women wanting an oversized look however may opt for the 58 mm size. For thinner faces or teenagers 55mm works well. If in doubt on sizes, just stop by your local Sunglass Hut and try on some Ray Bans in either size. You will certainly appreciate the cost difference between our lightweight polarized lenses and their heavy glass ones!
